Zorzal Rose of Pinot Noir 2016
Zorzal is an organic boutique winery located in Mendoza's prestigious Uco Valley, a region renowned for delivering wines of quality and finesse. The winery is located at approximately 4500 feet above sea level, making it the highest winery in Mendoza. The altitude creates wines of incredible complexity and refreshing acidity, as the grapes take longer to ripen than in lower, hotter parts of Mendoza.
The winery uses only indigenous yeast in the wine making process, and tends to harvest grapes a little earlier (greener) than most in Mendoza in order to retain freshness and acidity.
This rosé is made up of 100% Pinot Noir that was grown in their limestone rich vineyard, high up in the Uco Valley in Gualtallary. The pale pink wine is crisp and vibrant with notes of strawberry, raspberry, and watermelon. A strong backbone of minerality from the limestone soils holds through to the finish, which is also ripe with hints of fig, tangerine, and crushed wet stones.
