Los Padres Red Blend Central Coast 2015
Joey Tensley has made a huge name for himself with wine critics and sommeliers alike for his mastery of California's Central Coast Rhone varietals. The 2014 Los Padres Red is a chance to experience his crafty blending first hand, without the price tag.
This wine harmonizes Paso Robles Petite Syrah with Santa Barbara County Syrah and Grenache. Fifty percent of the wine was aged in tank, creating powerfully fresh fruit aromas, while the other fifty percent was aged in neutral French oak barrels for softness on the palate. The result is a rich, deep and powerful wine that is almost black in color. Notes of blackberry, plum, dark cherry and licorice sing from the nose to the finish.
This wine can be enjoyed now or aged up to seven years. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats and tomato sauces.
