Lorenza Rosé 2015
Lorenza is everything rosé is supposed to be: Pale pink with delicate flavors and fabulous acidity. The grapes were harvested by hand from old Lodi vines in August, 2015, and were picked early and specifically for rosé.
The blend is 33% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 24% Mourvedre, and 18% Cinsault. (The Bechthold Vineyard, their long time source of Cinsault, was planted in 1847!) As these varietals came in during the 2015 harvest, the juice was gently pressed from whole clusters into stainless steel tanks for a long fermentation at low temperatures. The blend was made once the wines were bone dry, and bottled on December 15, 2015. Only 1,883 cases were produced.
This California rosé has finesse and balance, with beautiful floral aromas and a delicate palate of cranberry, guava, passion fruit and tart cherry. The 2015 Lorenza Rosé is completely dry, with a backbone of lean minerality.
Lorenza is made by Melinda Kearney, long time wine marketer, and her daughter, model Michelle Ouellet. The mother daughter team has deep roots in Napa Valley, and their rosé project, which began in 2008, is natural expression of their love for wine and travel.
